VISITA DEL BRITISH INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL NEW DELHI

Los días lunes 10 y martes 11 de marzo tuvimos la suerte de recibir la visita de un grupo de alumnos con distintas nacionalidades procedentes del colegio británico British International School en Nueva Delhi (India).

  

       



















       

Nuestros alumnos tuvieron la oportunidad de intercambiar tanto aspectos lingüísticos como culturales hasta en tres idiomas dado que los alumnos del colegio visitante, además de su lengua materna, el inglés, también están aprendiendo castellano y francés.

           

Almorzaron con nosotros y realizaron varias actividades con los alumnos de C.U.M.E.: presentación de Granada y de Nueva Delhi, un juego de memoria sobre estos países, un concurso relacionado con Granada, una gymkana sobre Andalucía haciendo uso de internet para buscar la información, lectura y comprensión de textos tanto en castellano como en francés. Finalmente, nuestros alumnos plantearon una serie de preguntas en inglés a nuestros invitados sobre La India a las que contestaron con mucho desparpajo.

Dados los vínculos establecidos con este grupo de Nueva Delhi, seguiremos manteniendo el contacto e intercambiando ideas e información.

HONG KONG STUDENTS VISIT OUR SCHOOL

On 17th October a group of students from the school King George V in Hong Kong visited our school. Their ages ranged from 12 to 17 years old and were accompanied by two teachers. They were having lunch with us in our canteen and then we took part in several activities together. One of these activities was a digital presentation about Andalusia –its geography and culture. Afterwards, a great group of students from CUME posed a set of questions to the students from King George V on their customs and way of life.

Almost the whole meeting was hold in English except for some occasions when other languages such as Danish, Polish, Russian or Spanish were also spoken due to the diversity of nationalities gathered at the same time.

Other activities such as the photo shoot, exchange of emails among students as well as the presentation of certificates to the participants and other prizes made it possible to have an extremely funny and amusing meeting.

Luckily, and because of the relation established with these friendly Hong Kong-students, we will continue sharing information, didactic resources and who knows, if possible, we will give the visit back.

Do you know how a generator works?

Electricity that we use at home is produced by electric generators. Do you know how a generator works? or how it creates electricity?
An electric current is created when a magnet is spun rapidly inside a coil of wire. As you see in the conceptual diagram in the right, a turbine (usually powered by water or wind) spins a magnet inside a coil. This action induces an electric current in the coil that can be used to power a light bulb.
In this project you will study to find out what happens that a magnet can create electricity. You may also construct an electric generator that will power a light bulb.

After you construct a working electric generator, you may study any additional questions concerning factors affecting the function of an electric generator. Following are two sample questions that can be studied:

• How does the speed of turning rotor affect the production of electricity?
• How does the number of wire loops around the stator affect the production of electricity?

Material and instructions:

Materials for this kit may be ordered online or purchased locally. Most Electromotor/ Generator kits have the necessary material and step by step instructions on how to make a generator. Depending on how complete your kit is, you may need to purchase or gather some additional items to complete your project. Knowledge of electricity, electromagnets and electric motors is required prior to doing this project.
